This parched area in the west is part of the enormous Gran Chaco, a region that Argentinien shares with Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil. The Chaco contains both grassland and thorny forest.
It includes the following provinces: Formosa, Chaco and Santa Fe. Although the southern part of the last one belongs to the Pampas region.
